The Custom Grundel 50 which we offer is a strong steel expedition yacht fully isolated and richly equipped with the very best quality materials and electronics to sail safely around the world
Her previous owner did buy the boat in 1994 as a "Grundel" sailingyacht and completely rebuilt her on the basis of construction drawings by Van de Stadt between 2000 and 2017. For example, the complete hull and construction has been thoroughly renewed and reviewed, a new strong keel with 9000kg lead, rudder, skeg and a reinforced stainless steel bulb has been placed, everything above the waterline is replaced for stainless steel (including complete deck, cockpit / superstructure!) The windows are isolated armed hard glass and hatches Lewmar Atlantic.
During the rebuild the hull is sandblasted from inside and outside and a 8 layer 2 component epoxy painting system is applied. The deck is finished with a solid 14mm teak deck.
The extra thick profile Sparcraft Performance mast, oversized rigging, winches, blocks,Profurl Titanium furlers, sails and all electronics has been placed in 2015
The steering is hydraulic and has a new Simrad commercial autopilot with a bluetooth remote control. The lockers open with compressed air. The integrated davits for the dinghy have lights and a shower.
As a result, she is now about 29,000kg and well handled thanks to the twin Ford engines (2015) and hydraulic bow/ stern thruster.
Her deck layout makes her very pleasant for solo/duo-handed cruising, all shots are within easy reach of the helmsman, the genua and cotterjib can furl electric and manual. The interior is made of solid African Sipo wood spacious and uncluttered with, upon entering, a cozy L-seat to port with built-in flat screen and switchboard to starboard and various storage options.
Further into the bow we come to the galley, with generous countertop made of corian, American-style Amana refrigerator and plenty of cabinet space. On the port side is the owner's cabin situated with spacious double bed and en-suite toilet with separate shower stall. In the aft cabins are 2 equivalent cabins with double beds with various closet space and en-suite toilet
