Gib Sea 37 Ketch – “Philou” (1976) The Gib Sea 37 Ketch “Philou” is a classic and seaworthy cruising yacht designed by Michel Joubert. This concerns the well-built former Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) river master vessel “Oude Maas II”, which has been in use as a motor yacht for many years. !! Sold !! We do not often come across a "real" Barkas built by Vroegh & Alblas BV in this condition. A ship that has had only two owners and has spent almost its entire life in a boathouse says a lot about the care and attention it has received. 'Westwind' combines robust construction with a refined finish and great comfort on board. The matte black hull gives her a rugged, timeless appearance, while the neat paneling and thoughtful details provide warmth and class. The superstructure has been recently painted and fitted with new double-glazed windows with synthetic profiles. The spacious cockpit features a beautiful teak floor and is covered with a virtually new cockpit tent. With its distinctive multi-chine hull and a clearance height of just 235 cm, this Barkas feels at home on open water as well as in smaller inland waterways. Wherever you go and however long you are underway, you will want for nothing on board. An induction hob, diesel hot air heating, an indoor and outdoor shower, a holding tank, and a boiler operating on 220 volts as well as engine heat ensure a comfortable stay in every season. In terms of independence, too, there is little left to be desired, as this Barkas is very fully equipped. Six 120-watt solar panels, a 3,000-watt Victron inverter, a 5 kW WhisperPower generator, and three 220 Ah Victron gel batteries make extended stays on the water a matter of course. Furthermore, navigation and maneuvering are confident and easy thanks to Raymarine equipment, including a Quantum radar, A125 chart plotter, and autopilot, and finally, a powerful Cupa CP50 bow thruster. The interior has recently been reupholstered and fitted with a new HPL floor; at the same time, the batteries for the starter motor and bow thruster have also been replaced. All in all, this makes this 'Westwind' a particularly well-maintained Barkas, ready for many comfortable hours on any conceivable body of water.
