The Hakahala is a classic 6 Metre (6mR) sailing yacht, designed by the renowned Swedish yacht designer Knud Reimers and built in 1935 at the Københavns Yacht- og Motorbådsværft shipyard. The yacht was originally commissioned by the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY) for participation in the prestigious 'Guldpokal' in 1936. The Hakahala is a valuable example of maritime heritage within the 6 Metre class. The combination of historical design, craftsmanship and active participation in contemporary events makes the yacht an important part of the classic sailing community. In 2004, the Hakahala was found in a neglected state in DK-Roskilde, suffering significant damage, including a large hole in the freeboard. Upon arrival in the Netherlands, an extensive restoration took place, preserving only the original keel and design. The restoration was completed in 2008 and in the same year, the Hakahala received the award for ?Best Restoration? from the Dutch Association of Classic Sharp Yachts (VKSJ). During the restoration, modern materials were used without compromising the authenticity of this beautiful lady. A true eye-catcher on the water. De Hakahala is een waardevol voorbeeld van het maritieme erfgoed binnen de 6 Metre klasse. De combinatie van historisch ontwerp, vakmanschap en actieve deelname aan hedendaagse evenementen maakt het jacht tot een belangrijk onderdeel van de klassieke zeilgemeenschap. In 2004 werd de Hakahala in verwaarloosde staat aangetroffen in DK-Roskilde. Het jacht had aanzienlijke schade, waaronder een groot gat in het vrijboord. In NL aangekomen heeft er een uitgebreide restauratie plaatsgevonden, waarbij alleen de originele kiel en het ontwerp behouden bleven. Die Kombination aus historischem Design, Handwerkskunst und aktiver Teilnahme an heutigen Veranstaltungen macht die Yacht zu einem bedeutenden Bestandteil der klassischen Segelgemeinschaft.
