Description
The Pavilion Tjalk 'Mathildaâ? is, as far as known, the oldest sailing tjalk still afloat in the Netherlands. In 2007, this beautiful, museum-worthy liveaboard vessel was completely restored by the current owner at SRF Shipyard in Harlingen. During this restoration, the entire bottom, the bilges and the hull plating up to approximately 20 centimeters above the waterline were renewed. Furthermore, an engine was installed, a completely new interior was fitted and the vessel was rigged for sailing again, all without losing its historical character. Aft, in the pavilion (aft cabin), there is a spacious area still open for custom layout. Further forward, there are the galley, the bathroom, a separate toilet room and the salon with stairs leading up to the deck. At the front, there are two cabins, each fitted with a double bed. The forepeak is equipped with tanks and currently used as a storage area. For anyone who is looking for an excellent, certified liveaboard sailing vessel that would be warmly welcomed in any museum harbor, or for those who wish to live aboard in NL-Zeeland or use it as a recreational sailing yacht, the Mathilda offers a unique opportunity to own a genuine piece of Dutch maritime heritage.
